When you look in the mirror what do you see? Do you see someone who is beautiful and special or do you see yourself ugly and not good enough? I know we all have felt our beauty was not get enough. In a world that is obsessed over beauty who could blame us! With the invention of social media this obsession has gotten way out of hand. Taking pictures to see how many likes you can get, showing your body for comments it is everywhere! I love taking pictures of myself showing my creativeness through makeup but here's the thing I refuse to jeopardize my respect for a comment or a "like". When I post pictures its for me...why do you post pictures?
Everyone wants to be accepted, to feel beautiful, to feel as if you are worthy. We all deserve that too but you need to know that your worthiness, your beauty, and your acceptance comes from God within us. God accepts us just the way we are. In the scriptures he stated he created a masterpiece when he created you. Therefore he was pleased at what he saw. So why does what others do or don't do matter so much to us? Its human nature to want others to love us and accept us but its also human nature for others to bash us and to make us feel worthless. There is always going to be someone who will not like us and there will always be someone that will like us. Usually the ones that like us outweigh the people who don't. So instead of obsessing over the next like or comment on your picture challenge yourself to focus on the masterpiece that God created in you. Whether its your passion through makeup or your quirkiness through pictures. Validation of who you are should not be measured by the number of likes you get! Your validation should come from within yourself.Once you are able to love yourself for you and not for anyone else the obsession over "likes" will diminish and the love of yourself will shine through.Selfies are not going anywhere anytime soon so why not stop obsessing and start taking pictures for fun and a way of expressing yourself...because you are awesome just the way you are and no amount of "likes" can ever take that away from you!
Selfies are empowering. Selfies express confidence. Selfies give people control over how they are viewed. Selfies are celebratory. Selfies are a chance to own your image.
To say, “HERE I AM, THIS IS ME, AND I AIN’T APOLOGIZING FOR IT.”
