"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
Letting go of spiritual bondage and the problems that have had you bound and pinned down, will not only help you spiritually but also mentally, emotionally and maybe even physically. When you begin to forgive people who hurt you, when you begin to release the anger, depression, fear, or addiction that has kept you on a rocky roller coaster, then you begin the healing process. You will start to see the weight that you was carrying was only a minor road block keeping you from all that God has for you!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
Never think for a second that God did not see the pain that you were suffering, the struggles you were facing, and the tears you cried at night. God was not surprised by the chains that kept you imprisoned, but he also knew that you wouldn't be imprisoned for long. You may have believed God was punishing you, that God had forsaken you, and left you to fend for yourself. NO! God knows what he is doing and although we may not understand it, God is working out the paths in our life...he is going to make your path straight again.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
Letting go of the past can be very hard. Forgiving someone that has hurt you so much can be very excruciating. Addictions wont be easy either, it may take months or even years. Fighting your fears may be so nerve racking! But as seen in the scripture above God is not finished with you. He has not given up on you, so you should not give up on yourself. No matter how hard it may be to let go of something or someone it is all working according to God's plan. He knows the plans he created just for you. He did not say it was going to be easy,"how would you learn, how would you see the purpose in his plan, how would you see the true joy and peace." He has great plans for you, plans that wont harm you. You just have to let go of those chains and break free from the prison that kept you living in fear, depression, addiction, and so much more!
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
God is doing a new thing in your life...if you let him. Forgetting the past and looking toward the future will only bring you joy and peace. Staying in the past will leave you sad, miserable, and in pain. Letting go of the past hurts will allow the light to shine through in your heart. It will allow you to have a refreshing new start, trusting God and gaining the faith that you need to get through everyday. Everyday you will begin to grow a little more, become a little bit stronger, gain a little more peace. You will begin to smile a little more each day, letting go of the past one step at a time.
Let it Go today and begin to see the plans God has for you. God has a future full of hope awaiting you after you get out of your prison. What will you choose?
