Celebrity Makeup Secrets

*Guest Post By Peter Minkoff*

Celebrities are well-known for their demanding red-carpet routines, which include makeup among all the other important elements. Some of them were actually willing to share their secrets when it comes to this essential feature, so here they are – top five celebrity makeup secrets.

Flawless Skin

Celebrity makeup artists shared some very useful tips related to accomplishing flawless skin complexion. First of all, adding a little bit of moisturizer to your foundation is the best way to lighten its coverage power. On the other hand, if you want to make foundation thicker, just mix in a pinch of loose powder – be careful not to add too much of it, it will get too thick. Also, egg whites are your skin’s best friends, especially before an important event. Whisk one white and apply it to your face. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and you will see that your skin is immediately tightened, with the effect of temporary facelift.

Perfect Lips

A perfect red-carpet look requires eye-catching lip color, without doubt. You cannot make a mistake with red lipstick – there is definitely a shade of red for everyone. Before the lipstick, you can apply a foundation to your lips, too. This will neutralize lip tone and make the color of the lipstick look more vibrant. Taylor Swift revealed that an ordinary tissue helps her a lot in her makeup routine. She puts on the lipstick, then blots it with the tissue and applies the powder over it. The lipstick is applied one more time and voila – it lasts much longer thanks to this marvelous trick!

Stunning Eyes

The simplest smoky eyes often look the most effective. Here is a little tip: do not rub the eye shadow – just tap it gently onto the lid with your finger. A fluffy brush will be useful later on for blending. Also, using a luminizer in the inner corner of the eye will make you look younger, and you can even apply it slightly under the eye. This will brighten your face. One of the favorite looks of the majority of celebrities is certainly cat eyes. The trick for accomplishing it is drawing it in sections – starting from the center of the eyelid, drawing a tail toward the outer end. Then go back to the middle and draw toward the inner corner. As simple as that!

Wow Brows

Perfectly shaped brows definitely create an amazing frame for your eyes. Bold, big brows are an ultimate hit nowadays – just think of Cara Delevingne. They are flawlessly groomed, and the trick is in making them look as natural as possible. A soft brow pencil should be used for drawing the hairs with short strokes, brushing them into precision later on. This will just emphasize their natural shape, instead of making them flat and matte. Set them with clear mascara and you are good to go!

Contouring On Fleek

Exquisitely defined cheek bones add a touch of perfection of every look, and that can be done in the best possible way by contouring. A combination of darker foundation shades for defining and lighter ones for highlighting is a favorite beauty trick of many celebrities, especially those who want to cover some imperfections and make their face look slimmer. Some of them even relied on this technique before going for rhinoplasty procedure – including Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, and Gwen Stefani.  It definitely worked well for them.

As you can see, there are a lot of useful things we can learn from celebrities. The truth is that flawless look requires much more than a skillful makeup artist – there is a bunch of tricks that can make our routines much easier.
